4 Reasons StateFoodSafety is the Food Safety Training Provider for Your Company

As a high-level manager in the foodservice industry, you know there are many food safety training providers who can help you train your employees. With so many options, how do you know which will be the best fit for your business? We’d like to share four reasons why StateFoodSafety is the perfect food safety training provider for you.

1. Compliance with food safety laws

StateFoodSafety’s food safety training is customized to meet regulatory requirements. As a result, our training meets the unique requirements of more regulatory jurisdictions than any other provider. This means you can use the same system to provide training to all or most of your locations.

Our food handlers training, food manager training and certification exam, and food allergens training have all been accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).

In addition, we’re able to respond rapidly to changes in food safety laws because of the way our courses are built. We can also customize training for larger brands while maintaining our accreditation.

What does it mean to be accredited?

ANAB is a private, not-for-profit organization that helps set standards in a variety of industries, including foodservice. Regulatory agencies aren’t required to adopt ANAB standards for food safety training. However, a lot of them choose to require ANAB accreditation because it guarantees the training meets certain national standards.

All programs that have been accredited under the same ANAB standards are equal in terms of compliance. For example, StateFoodSafety’s Certified Food Protection Manager Exam is equally compliant to the food manager certification exam offered by ServSafe.

In addition to meeting the same standards as other ANAB-accredited training courses and tests, we focus on helping students retain the information they learn. We also focus on making better testing questions that truly test if the student understands important food safety principles.

2. Dedicated customer service

When you decide to work with us, we assign you a client services representative who will help with your food safety questions and needs. Your representative knows your company and is dedicated to understanding your goals and helping you achieve them.

Current clients rated our exceptional customer service as one of the things they value most about working with us. Cynthia Gooch, Regional Trainer for Learning and Development at Whole Foods Market, commented, “StateFoodSafety always did the legwork for me in regards to state/city/county regulations and requirements. Whatever my needs were or questions I asked, I always heard back within a 24-hour turnover. And may I add I was never disappointed with the outcome!”

Additionally, our customer support team is available to answer your employees’ day-to-day questions in both English and Spanish.

3. Easier implementation and management

When you partner with StateFoodSafety, we help you with every part of the implementation process to get your training program up and running.

LMS integration

If you use a Learning Management System (LMS), we can integrate our training into your existing system. That way, you can assign training and track learner progress in the system you already use.

Branded training portal

If you don’t use an LMS, we can design a free branded training portal with a custom URL that allows you to efficiently and effectively administer food safety training. You’ll also get access to our administrative reporting tool, which allows you to monitor employee progress, view training results, and access employee certificates.

Teaching employees how to get trained

Instruction cards and flyers are available upon request to help teach your employees how to get the training they need. These materials are free to StateFoodSafety clients.

4. Quality food safety training courses

At StateFoodSafety, we aim higher than just helping your employees pass a test or fulfill a regulatory requirement. Our goal is to teach food safety concepts so well that employees internalize them and act accordingly — leading them to consistently prepare safe food.

Following instructional design principles

We design our courses based on instructional design principles that have been proven to increase students’ understanding and performance. For instance, we use role-play activities in our trainings because research has shown that students remember only 5% of what they hear, but 75% of what they do.

In addition, we were the first food safety training company to use animated avatars, which have been proven to hold students’ attention better than reading text on a screen. One researcher found that using avatars to teach students led them to choose 30% more correct answers.

We also include Learning Extras that are designed to dive deeper into why food safety behaviors are so important.

Multiple language options for training

Food preparation and service is one of the largest employing industries in the United States with approximately 13.4 million employees. Of that, a significant percentage of people grew up speaking a language other than English. QSR Magazine reports that more than 23% of restaurant workers, 43% of restaurant chefs, and 25% of restaurant managers were born outside the U.S.

Training employees in their native language can have a huge impact on their success. This was demonstrated by an Iowa State University study in which Spanish-speaking food workers performed 40.9% better on the food handlers test after receiving food handler training in Spanish.

With this in mind, we offer our food handlers course in eight different languages, including: English, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Serbo-Croatian, and ASL (American Sign Language). We also offer our food manager training and Food Protection Manager Certification Exam in English and Spanish.

Additional training resources

In addition to helping your employees get the certifications they need to work, we offer free food safety training materials to help further your employees’ training and development. Our stand-up training guides can help reinforce concepts like cooling food safely, preventing cross-contamination, and more.

You can also use our food safety posters, stickers, and cartoons to help employees remember important food safety principles.
