Here at StateFoodSafety we are constantly looking for ways to help improve the safety of your workplace. It’s true that our efforts are usually focused on the safe handling of food in the kitchen, but safety shouldn’t stop just at food.
Slips, trips, and falls are a leading cause of injury in the workplace. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Fall injuries constitute a considerable financial burden: workers’ compensation and medical costs associated with occupational fall incidents have been estimated at approximately $70 billion annually in the United States.” That’s a lot of money! And unfortunately, a lot of hurt people. Preventing these hazards will help keep your employees and the people they serve safe. For this reason, we developed the easy-to-follow Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls Poster on safety in the workplace.
This poster goes over the importance of being aware of your surroundings, wearing appropriate shoes, and maintaining floor cleanliness. Following these simple steps could make a world of difference for your employees’ health and safety.
In order to help prevent these injuries in your workplace, instruct workers to follow the guidelines pictured on the poster, and promise that if they do so, they will reduce the risk of injury in the workplace. Remember, continually educating your workers about safe work environment practices is the only way to successfully reduce the risk of injury related to slips, trips, and falls in the workplace. As a leader in your establishment, it is your responsibility to ensure your workers are receiving this continuous education. Feel free to use this poster to help.
