HACCP Certification FAQs

What is HACCP?

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points is a preventive system of hazard control rather than a reactive one. Food processors and manufacturers can use it to ensure consumer safety. The system is designed to identify hazards, establish controls and monitor these controls. Hazards can include harmful microorganisms and chemical or physical contaminants.

What is HACCP Certification?

This certification demonstrates that you completed HACCP training and are prepared to use this system to identify and control food hazards. Our program equips students with the knowledge and skills to effectively create and implement a hazard prevention plan in their facilities.

Upon successfully completing the program, students can download and print a certificate accredited by the International HACCP Alliance. A mailed certificate with the official gold seal from the International HACCP Alliance (IHA) will be shipped within 14 days.

This internationally recognized certification program is provided in partnership with HACCPTraining.Org

What is a HACCP plan?

A Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point plan is a written document that defines the formal procedures for identifying and preventing hazards that could cause foodborne illnesses.

Facilities that conduct specialized food processes are required to complete a HACCP plan and submit it for review and approval.

Facilities must operate in accordance with their approved plan. Failure to follow the approved plan may result in enforcement action. Essentially, by following a well-established and regularly updated plan, the food products will be safer for people to eat and foodborne illness outbreaks can be avoided.

What are some of the benefits of a HACCP plan?

  • Increase customer and consumer confidence
  • Maintain or increase market access
  • Improve control of the production process
  • Reduce costs through reduction of product loss
  • Increase focus and ownership of food safety
  • Increase business liability protection
  • Improve product quality and consistency
  • Simplify inspections with recordkeeping and documentation
